Obiettivi formativi:
Educational goals:
The course aims at providing students with the main tools to analyse risks faced by financial intermediaries, their origin, definition, formalization, modeling, management and protection strategies, implications for capital requirements and for governance. A specific focus is devoted to asset management, and to risk management in insurance companies.

Course contents:
Module 1: Interest rates and market risk: management, rating, capital requirements and value creation. Module 2: Credit risk: definition, elements, management approaches, protection strategies and tools, implication for capital requirements. The role of rating. Module 3: Asset management: different approaches to portfolio management; management strategies and styles, capital protection. Module 4: A focus on risk in insurance companies: role of reserves, Solvency II, financial risk and ALM, re-insurance, innovation in products for risk management in insurance companies. Operation risk and reputation risk: nature, classification, managerial implications with an application to insurance companies.
